Knight of Wands

The Knight of Wands is moving fast!

Change might be sweeping in, or you might feel ready to bust out of your shell.

Knights represent force, stubbornness, and vision. They are rebels. They’re most at home when they can ride the wave of their own volition.

The Knight of Wands doesn’t do great with planning; their motto is act now, think later. They know that the best way to get ahead is by taking risks and acting on the opportunities that are presented. The Knight of Wands could be beckoning you to jump in, even if it feels less than logical and a little freaky. Nothing ventured, nothing gained.

I have seen the Knight of Wands drawn for folks who make a splash. Their fiery energy makes them great at public appearances or situations where they can show off their attractive (and at times, eccentric) flavor. Their ability to take center stage makes them great at public-facing businesses, especially where image is concerned. The Knight of Wands might ask you to show off your vibrant colors, energy, or ideas.

The Knight of Wands has to do things their way. You (or someone around you, if about someone else) will not change who you are or what you’re all about. Seeing this card can remind you that you’re stuck in your ways.

Your confidence and self-image draw admiration–and, at times, irritation–from others. There’s no controlling the Knight of Wands. You’d rather die than tone down your flair.

In addition to a strong persona, the Knight of Wands can also represent something taking you by storm. You might find yourself swept up in reverie or pulled into a new project. The fire of inspiration is burning.

When the Knight of Wands is drawn reversed, their zeal turns on itself. Enthusiasm becomes manic, and trigger-happy decisions are made without planning or logic; this leads to ramshackle outcomes, unstable relationships, and frayed edges.

The reversal of this card can also indicate something unfolding or falling apart quickly. Something you thought was a sure thing suddenly upends, and you’re left wondering what the heck just happened.

You might also feel like you’re playing whack-a-mole at the circus; there’s no order to the sudden outbursts life’s dishing out. This is especially the case if surrounding cards imply unpredictability.

In relationship readings, I’ve seen the reversal of this card equate with mystery, and not in a good way. You or someone of interest professes love only to vanish just as quickly. This could stem from fear of abandonment or approval-seeking; someone else’s starry-eyed gaze provides the next dopamine hit.

When leaping into their strengths, the Knight of Wands is glamorous and living their best life. Jump into what’s jump-starting you.
