The spiritual community often talks about energies being of a high or low vibration.
High-vibration energies are considered to be connected to Spirit, the Divine, Gods, Goddesses, and the Higher Self (to name a few). Tarot readers, reiki healers, and all manner of spiritual practitioners sometimes talk about raising their own vibrations in order to heal others or channel messages from Spirit.
Practitioners also talk about removing low-vibration energies from the client, or speak of harmful entities or other lower vibrational entities that can harm others.
Are there high and low vibrations? I am divided on this topic.
One reason I don’t like the descriptor of high-vibration and low-vibration is that it’s a binary of good and bad. If someone is in the midst of being traumatized (or dealing with trauma), and they are upset, do we tell them they are carrying low vibrations?
I don’t think so. I’m not into that.
That’s why I created the Shadowspeak Oracle. We need to normalize despair.
If anything, I would say that processing grief, feeling anger, and practicing self-compassion for being hurt are high-vibration; you recognize your holiness and are taking time to honor the hurt and pain. Isn’t seeing yourself as a sacred being high-vibration?
I made this drawing because I think the energies are all swirling around in a big pot, like the oceans cradled by the earth. We are a collective that is filled with calm waves and crashing waves, and we’re all part of the ocean of life.
I also think that telling people they are high or low vibration places a hierarchy that separates instead of heals. However, that doesn’t give abusers an out.
Where do you stand on the issue of vibration?
